Hi Mary.

Wow! I didn't know. Count me a loser too. I've just no teenagers in my life currently to let me know these things. Maybe that's good.

Love your sense of humor and your writing style.

I really think you should just keep poking her. Show her we old folks have more tenacity than sense. :)

Hi Diane. I agree about continuing to poke her. Her reaction is just way too entertaining! Thanks for your encouraging comments.

Huh. I wouldn't join Facebook, only 'cause it seems kind of dorky. But only yesterday I received an email from a friend, exposing the dark side of Facebook in one of those "Zeitgeist" type expose videos, which claims that by signing up for a Facebook account, you grant Facebook, in perpetuity, all rights to all information about yourself, and conversely, you surrender all claims to the information, whether photos or bio or anything, that you publish on Facebook. Do a search on the Facebook controversy, you'll find it.

What's really ironic in this age is how you can have a room full of people cybering other people around the world, their supposed good "friends", and making dates and all that stuff, yet the person that could very well be their perfect companion might be sitting right next to them, and it never ocurs to them to talk to the living, breathing humans within their reach. Some kind of evolutionary survival of the species mechanism? I don't know.

Great article, Mary. It's good to read your writing again. Despite the controversy facebook can be an incredibly powerful tool to help you keep up with old friends. Jump in, the water is fine!

I've also tried the free $25 in advertising. Sometimes you get what you pay for.

Hello Bruce!
I'm agreeing with the water statement.  At least for now.

Yes, Bruce. My dad always told me that you get what you pay for but I can't stop being the eternal optimist. I have to admit that your comment about this was a bit reassuring - I didn't get much response from the "free" ads either... Thanks, Mary
